我在纪录片《八、九点钟的太阳》里看到这个片段，宋彬彬始终在阴影中回忆往昔，似乎她真实的面孔和表情，已被时代的喧嚣所淹没。如今，很少人还记得这个插曲。对于身经那个时代的人来说，他们见过太多比这更刺激、荒诞的现实。但这个插曲或许已再好不过的表现了那个时代、那种体制下最显著的特征——个人价值、个人的独特性是微不足道的，它随时以更改、被替换。而替换它的理由，经常是来自更高的价值——它可能是国家的利益、革命的需要，或全人类的欲望，或干脆是历史的规律。在这些更高的目标之下，个人被缩减、被抽象，然后理所当然的放弃个人的原则与勇气。那些批斗自己的老师，背叛自己的亲人，毫不怜悯的殴打陌生人的少年，与其说他们内心隐藏着多少邪恶与丑陋，不如说是深深的思考无能。对于世界，他们失去了最基本的理解与判断能力。在革命与集体的统一要求之下，他们获得了一种放弃个体责任后的一种巨大自由与放纵。而那些更为敏感的心灵，则发现自己处于一种巨大的痛苦之中，他们身不由己，缺乏意义。

I saw the scene in documentary "Sun At 8,9AM", in which Song Binbin was immersed in the has-been memory. It seems that the era has overwhelmed her true face and emotions. Now, rarely can people remember this episode. For people in that era, there are much more ridiculous and inciting reality than this. However, it did represent, to some degree, the most prominent distinction of that era and mechanism, in which the individual and its value is trivial and can be changed or substituted anytime, for the sake of some higher values. It could be national interests, revolutions, desire of human beings, or just the rules of history. Under these higher values and goals, the individual is shrunk and abstracted. Consequently, they will give up the principle and courage to be an individual. It is the deep inability to think, rather than the ugly and evil side of heart, that drove those teenagers to "criticize" their teachers, betray their family and beat the strangers. They lost their basic competence of understanding and judgment. As required by the revolution and union, they gave up their individual responsibilities for exchange of great freedom and indulgence. But for those more sensitive minds, they found that they are in such grieving pain that they lost their meaning and freedom. ....

是的，2008年的中国与1966年的中国，已经大不一样。不仅物质世界完全不同了，而且人们在个人生活上有更多的自由选择；那个与世界为敌，一心要输出革命的国家，展开了双臂，一心要让所有的外来者沉醉不已、大吃一惊。 但是如果你穿越这些表层，进入到更深的世界，你很可能发现，那些更为本质的东西并未改变。在林妙可与杨沛宜身上，你不是又看到个人的可被替代性，她们再一次是所谓更大的力量的工具。在张艺谋导演的令人惊叹的集体表演中，每个个体都是面目模糊的，他们只是整体形式感中随时可以替换的一个元素。没人会否人这种集体性可能造就的辉宏壮观，但当人们经常忘记了这种辉煌背后所付出的代价，人们也曾经迷恋于中国的整齐划一的红色海洋。即使在对中国昔日辉煌文明的追忆与再现中，我更多感受到的是，历史对于个人命运的压迫。在中国漫长的历史中，抽象的国家不总是具有一种压倒性的力量吗？除去被其利用、或者主动为其服务，个体似乎总是难以找到自己独特的空间。

Yes, it is different between China in 1966 and 2008. The material world is totally different, and people have more choices in the personal life. The national, who had been fighting against the world and striving to export its revolutions, now open its arm to brace the outsiders with fascinations and shocks. But if you dig into the inner world, you might discover that some fundamental things remains unchanged. In Lin Miaoke and Yang Peiyi, you can see the replaceable individual, which is again only a tool of much more giant power. In the amazing show directed by Zhang Yimou, each face was blurred and become only an replaceable part of formalized collection. Nobody can deny the magnificence that such collective efforts have created, but people often forget what they have paid for such miracle and were just fascinated with the orderly ocean of red color. I felt the repression of history against the fate of individual, even in recalling the great history of China. In the long past, isn't the abstract national had a overwhelming power? It is hard for individual to any unique room, despite being utilized by them or serving them. ...

但是我想表明的是，在独立的个体力量得到充分的生长，个体价值获得尊重之前，国家的强大是缺乏意义的，而且它经常导向某种出人意料的悲剧。

What I want to say is that, the powerfulness of a nation is meaningless, until the independent individual is fully grown up and individual value is fully respected. And it often leads to unexpected tragedy.
